5 Tips To Stay Active During Winter
Depending on where you live, it can be extremely hard to stay active during the winter months. When the sun goes down, the motivation levels go down too. It's way easier to cuddle up under a cozy blanket than go out and brave the cold and dark. It's natural to feel a depletion of energy during the Winter months, however, all hope is not lost! You can still continue your fitness journey and we have 5 tips to make reaching your fitness goals easier during the cold weather months.
Although it may not seem like it, working out in the cold actually has some benefits. First of all, the lack of heat and humidity makes it easier for your body to stay active for longer! This also means burning more calories in the long run. Secondly, the cold triggers that fight or flight response that can actually make you feel more alert and mindful.
In order to keep your body active, you have to these 5 tips this Winter:
1. Find a partner or a group to keep you accountable.
It’s easy to stay in bed when it’s just your time on the line, however if you have a workout buddy or group to hold you accountable you are more likely to get out of bed and get active!
2. Sign up for activities that are scheduled.
Having something that you have to attend in your calendar can sometimes be essential to getting you out of the house when you’d rather stay inside.
3. Start with small goals.
Instead of setting intense workout goals every day, start small and make a goal just to go to the gym. Having a more attainable goal like that will seem a little less daunting, and once you’re at the gym you’ll automatically start to feel more energized.
4. Try exercising during your lunch break.
This is one of the best times to workout during the cold weather months because you’re already awake and moving. The best part is that it is light outside and can be your chance to get some sunlight during the day. This also serves as a midday reset for your brain and could even help you be more productive!
5. Do workouts that don’t feel like workouts.
