Rising Fitness Trends in 2023

We are almost halfway through 2023 and here are the trends that we have seen rising in the health and fitness world this year. From VR workouts to cold plunges, 2023 still has a lot in store for fitness enthusiasts.

Stress Hacking

Is 2023 the year of saying goodbye to stress? Many people are trying. This year there has been a rise in the number of people using meditation apps to try and ‘hack’ their stress levels. Apps like Headspace, Calm, and Insight Timer provide guided meditations and breathing exercises to help you eliminate stress and improve your sleep.

Rise in Cardio

Cardio popularity is rising in 2023 and before you say ‘No way’, there are many reasons why. Since lockdown, there has been a rise in fitness apps, online workout programs, and home cardio equipment. Not to mention that many people began running and walking more as a way to stay in shape and get outside. It seems that many people are sticking with these practices and continuing to make them a priority even as gyms are open again.

VR Fitness

The future of fitness is coming faster than you may think. VR has rapidly gained popularity since the release of consumer VR headsets in 2016. What started off as a gaming console has expanded to other areas such as education, healthcare, fitness, architecture, and simulation. VR fitness games such as Supernatural and Thrill of the Fight have been voted on as some of the best fitness games to make you sweat by personal trainers and VR fitness experts.

Outdoor Workouts

In 2023 people are craving time outdoors. More and more athletes are taking their workouts outside, or incorporating workouts into their outdoor activities. Companies like Omorpho are creating workout enhancing weighted clothing that take a normal hike and turn it into a challenging workout. People are also turning to the outdoors to find variety and cost effective forms of exercise. Not to mention the mental health benefits such as improved mood and reduced stress that being outside provides.

More Emphasis on Recovery

Breathwork, yoga, pilates, and mobility training are gaining popularity among athletes. 2023 is the year of recovery and health. People are working hard, but they are now interested in recovering and preventing injury.

Cold Plunging

You’ve probably seen celebrities, influencers, and fitness experts alike taking the plunge…the cold plunge that is. Ice baths are THE fitness trend of 2023. Not only are they great for recovery, but the effect that cold plunging has on stress, mood, and mental health is very positive.

So, to wrap it up, 2023 is the year of reducing stress, recovering, and spending more time outside. We’ve gotta say, we are fans of the trends.
