Rebuilding Coral Reefs with Reef Life Foundation
The World Wildlife Fund estimates a quarter of the world's reefs are damaged beyond repair and 70% are under serious threat. One of the main contributors to that is the excessive amount of plastic waste that is found in the ocean.
At Hydrojug, one of our core missions is to reduce the amount of plastic waste that is polluting our world, especially our oceans. How do we do this? By building the best reusable water bottles for everyday use to help cut down on the waste of single-use water bottles.
In June of this year, we partnered with Reef Life Foundation on World Oceans Day.
We chose to partner with them because we feel that their mission coincides directly with our intentions here at HydroJug. Their mission is to revitalize, restore, and protect coral reefs around the world.
They have developed underwater mineral habitats called IntelliReefs to rebuild lost coral reefs, creating a stronger and more healthy ocean. Their goal is to build over a million square feet of coral reefs by the end of 2025. This will help restore dying reefs back to sustainable ecosystems.
A portion of our proceeds from World Oceans day was donated to their current project in St. Maarten, where they are working on rebuilding their coral reefs. This coral reef system will be a 30 x 30 meter series of sculptures in the shape of sea turtles. Reef Life Foundation says they will continue to work with The Nature Foundation St. Maarten and expand the IntelliReefs into more Marine Protected Areas and dive locations.

By choosing HydroJug you are choosing to play a part in reducing the amount of plastic waste that ends up in our oceans and landfills. We hope we can all come together to help keep our oceans clean by choosing to use reusable products.
