Hydration Essentials For Spring Sports

As Spring sports seasons begin and more of people start getting out and getting active, it’s important that you keep yourself and your family properly hydrated for peak performance and overall well-being.

Hydration Guidelines for Spring Sports:

Pre-Hydration: Begin hydrating well before your activity. Aim to drink at least 16-20 ounces of water 2-3 hours before exercise to ensure proper hydration levels.

During Exercise: Stay hydrated during your workout or game by sipping water regularly. As a general rule of thumb, aim to drink 7-10 ounces of water every 10-20 minutes during physical activity. It’s important to bring enough water to keep you hydrated throughout the entire activity.

Post-Exercise: Replenish fluid and electrolyte losses after exercise by drinking 16-24 ounces of water for every pound of body weight lost during physical activity. For electrolyte losses, consider having an electrolyte supplement, or creating your own electrolyte drink. Additionally, consider consuming a balanced post-workout snack or beverage containing carbohydrates and protein to support muscle recovery and hydration.

Bottles We Recommend For Spring Sports:

64 oz Stainless Jug: This Jug is perfect for sports season! It has a large half-gallon capacity to ensure that you have enough water for the entire practice or game. It is stainless steel, meaning that you’ll have ice cold water all day. You can also customize your Stainless Jug to make it your own! Add your team logo or your name and team number. Add a Stainless Sleeve to take your water hands-free.

HydroJug Traveler: The 40 oz Traveler is perfect for athletes and fans alike. It is completely leakproof meaning that you can throw it in your bag without worrying about spills. It has a flip up straw for easy sipping and is made from stainless steel meaning that you’ll have ice cold water throughout practice or the big game.

Half Gallon Pro Jug: This is the Jug that started it all. Not only is the Pro Jug perfect for keeping you hydrated through practice, but it’s also durable enough to withstand drops. Customize your Pro Jug and take it hands-free with a Pro Sleeve.

Strategies for Staying Hydrated:

Monitor Your Urine Color: Pay attention to the color of your urine as a simple indicator of hydration status. Clear or light-colored urine typically indicates adequate hydration, while dark-colored urine may suggest dehydration.

Set Hydration Reminders: Use smartphone apps or timers to remind yourself to drink water regularly throughout the day, especially during periods of increased physical activity.

Listen to Your Body: Tune in to your body's thirst cues and drink water whenever you feel thirsty. Additionally, be mindful of signs of dehydration, such as dry mouth, fatigue, dizziness, or headache, and take prompt action to rehydrate.

Proper hydration is key for increasing your physical performance during sports! Remember to hydrate before, during, and after exercise and to always have your HydroJug with you during practice and games!
